2 x bottles of 2008 Atticus Wines Premium Museum Release Cabernet Sauvignon, Margaret River WA

TLDR;  This wine is fricken delicious. Deep red berries, super smooth finish, also 2008 vintage?! Trust me, you. Will. Love. It!

Atticus Wines is one of my favourite Margaret River wineries, especially for Cabernet. Owner and Managing Director, Rob Fraser, showcases his wines under the Atticus label and the Chapman Grove label, and many of my wedding clients and subscription clients will know the Chapman Grove Cabernet well!

The 2008 Premium Museum Release Cabernet Sauvignon is a truly beautiful wine. It is super fruit-driven, lots of red berries - strawberry, raspberry, cranberry - but as I say in the video below, the red-berry flavour has a real depth to it. In a younger wine, fruit like that is zippy and in-your-face, where this expression is much more mellow, smooth and lush.

The winery uses premium Margaret River grapes - all grown on their estate - and use French Oak for fermentation. This 2008 Cabernet spent 18 months in 50% new French Oak which gives the wine structure, draws subtle flavours, and rounds the wine off with silky-smooth tannins.

Possibly my favorite thing about this wine is that despite the age, you could easily drink this wine without food! In saying that though, it would be a beautiful accompaniment to a dish too.
